Finally—a Serving Bowl large enough for your most ambitious dinner parties.
Since the 1600s, the world’s best Plateware has come from Stoke-on-Trent, England, where the local clay and craftsmanship creates uniquely hard-wearing high alumina vitrified china. Prized for its beauty, longevity, and unrivaled chipping resistance, it’s historically been reserved for the hospitality industry—until now.
We’re the first to bring this legacy Plateware to home cooks. Instead of partial glazing, the Serving Bowl is fully glazed for 360° scratch- and chip-resistance. The glazing also makes it resistant to stains and oven safe to 580F, so you can keep your prized creation warm until your whole meal is ready to serve.
Discover Dinnerware that’s as beautiful on its thousandth meal as it is on its first.
What Size Are Your Serving Bowls?
Each Serving Bowl is 12” in diameter. Paired with our Appetizer Plates and other serveware and tableware, they’re part of our complete dinnerware set. In addition to acting as Serving Bowls, you can use them as pasta bowls or fruit bowls.
Where are your plates made?
Our stoneware is made in Stoke-On-Trent, England. The quality of craftsmanship makes them extremely chip-resistant, so they’re perfect for everything from weeknight dinners to special occasion dinner parties.
What is vitrification?
Vitrification is the process of heating the plateware to its boiling point and then firing it in the kiln to give the clay a smooth glasslike surface. This virtually eliminates pores making the plates stronger and more resistant to bacteria. Additionally, they’re easily able to withstand our stainless steel flatware. This is the gold standard for any dining room setting in the hospitality industry, and now is available for your home too.
What is the pin in my plateware?
A sign of true quality, all of our plateware will have a pin, or beauty mark, on the back resulting from the glazing process. Each piece is suspended with pins so that the glazing can be applied evenly front and back. This process eliminates the need for an unfinished foot, or rim, on the underside of the plateware, making each piece more scratch resistant and durable.
What is the benefit of a fully glazed foot?
A fully glazed foot, or the back of the plateware, reduces wear and tear when the plateware is stacked. There will be no scratches on your plateware caused from stacking. This is true across salad plates, bread and butter plates, dessert plates, and so on.
Are your Serving Bowls strong?
Yes, our Serving Bowls are built to last. Most restaurants and hotels use vitrified plates as chipped plates are dangerous and a violation of health and safety codes. If your Made In plateware chips within your first year of purchase, we’ll replace it. No questions asked.
